Dog Sports - Flyball

A flyball team consists of 4 dogs and handlers.  Teams against each other in a relay-style race. Each team has a ‘racing lane’ that is parallel to the others.  Each competing dog needs to clear four hurdles before grabbing a tennis ball from the flyball box. This ball must be kept in the dog’s mouth while they navigate the same hurdles to back to the start. Hurdle height is determined by the shoulder height of the smallest dog in the team. Each competing dog must cross the line before the next one can start their turn, and handlers must therefore strive to time the handover so that the least amount of time is lost. The winning team is the one that has its fourth dog cross the line first.
